Many individuals are attracted to the idea of using a wind generator for residential purposes. There are advantages and disadvantages when using one but the benefits are more than the disadvantages.
What are the disadvantages of using a wind generator? First of all, wind cannot be controlled, it is a natural phenomena. This means there should be an alternative energy source when wind power is low. Wind turbines can be seen easily because these are usually located in higher areas or in the case of wind farms may require large areas without much obstruction to get the required wind power. Noise is another downside of using a wind generator and this can effect television reception. The health of people who live close to wind farms is also involved. Wind turbine syndrome causes people to experience frequent headaches or other illnesses due to the low-frequency noise and vibration from the wind turbine.
Meanwhile, the advantage of using a wind generator is the conservation of our natural surroundings because there are no bi-products. In other words, wind turbine generators are eco-friendly. What’s more the energy produced by these generators does not incur charges unlike with electricity. By using wind turbines, you can save more money. Of course, you need to buy a generator first but the savings more than make up for the cost of investment. Lastly, wind is renewable unlike coal or oil which will eventually run out.
As you can see, the benefits greatly outweigh the disadvantages for as long as you have considered the disadvantages and find some work around the downside of using wind generator there is no reason why you will not benefit from having a wind generator in your area.
