Wind generators on sale
Posted in Wind Generator, Wind Turbine on 1 September 2010

Wind generators can either be bought or made, the choice is yours. To date, the increasing consumption of electricity will lead to a depleted supply of fuel and coal. Due to this, more and more people are now considering using wind generators. It is therefore not surprising that the wind generator sale is becoming more and more popular.

Since the prices of all commodities are also fast on the rise, people will want to get the best value for their money. This means if they think buying a second-hand wind generator is more cost efficient then they will choose a slightly used or used wind generator over a new one.

In the event that consumers have more money to spare and think that having a new wind generator will perform better and last longer than getting a second-hand machine, then they will choose to buy from a manufacturer or a wind generator reseller. The point is whichever will work best for a person remains a motivation on whether they will acquire a new machine or a second-hand generator.

Regardless whether you want a new or used generator, some aspects should be thought of such as the location, the presence of wind, government or housing association rules before acquiring a wind generator.

After you have reasonably complied with all of the considerations needed before installing and using a wind generator, only then will you become aware and enjoy the benefits of having a working wind power generator. The best advantage of installing and having a wind generator is saving money because you already have an alternate power source and using an environment friendly machine.

Residential Wind Generator
Posted in Wind Generator on 29 August 2010

People are becoming more and more familiar with the residential wind generator. This is not surprising due to the rise in the manufacturing of wind turbines. The residential wind generator is nothing like the commercial wind turbines which are usually more than 350 feet tall.

Residential wind generators stand only a few feet tall and have a price tag of $2,000. It can produce up to 20% of your house’s electricity. Although some state as well as local governments are promoting the manufacture and set up of wind turbines, others continue to restrict the wind generators development. This is due to complaints such as noise or the physical appearance of the wind turbines. These factors are enough for residents and local governments to remain adamant in their stand against wind generator or wind power.

Another challenge that the wind generator industry is facing is the capacity for installation since there are zoning laws and some other ordinances which means plenty of off-limit areas for the installation of the alternative power source generator.

These are just some of the concerns that people face regarding the installation and use of the residential wind generator. Overtime, people expect that these challenges will be overcome so that more consumers can gain from using these special machines. To date, everything is becoming more expensive and electricity is not an exception. For this reason, people should have another means of producing or generating their own power and reduce the consumption of electricity through the wind generator.

Wind Turbine Generator
Posted in Wind Generator, Wind Turbine on 26 August 2010

The principle behind how a wind turbine generator works is its ability to change mechanical energy into electrical energy. This type of generator is not similar to the typical generating machines which are attached to an electrical source or grid. A turbine generator on the other hand, requires wind as its power source and this must work with the wind turbine rotor resulting in torque or mechanical power which is fluctuating by nature.

On big wind turbines, the voltage produced is around 700 V three-phase AC. This voltage either passes through a transformer located within the tower or beside the wind turbine to increase it to 10,000 up to 30,000 volts. This will still depend on the electrical grid used.

Most manufacturers will provide a 50 Hz wind turbine as well as 60 Hz type of turbine which are commonly used in America.

While working, generators will require cooling. Cooling is usually accomplished by placing the generator in a duct with the use of a big fan to produce the cooling effect. Meanwhile there are a few companies which make use of a water cooled generator. The size of a water cooled generator is compactly designed, increasing electrical efficiency.

This is not possible unless a radiator is placed in the nacelle to remove the heat from the generator through the liquid cooling process.

Every thing that is mentioned here are just the basics of how a standard turbine generator works. It may still vary depending on the design of the manufacturers.

Using Wind Generator in Residential Areas
Posted in Wind Generator on 19 August 2010

Many individuals are attracted to the idea of using a wind generator for residential purposes. There are advantages and disadvantages when using one but the benefits are more than the disadvantages.

What are the disadvantages of using a wind generator? First of all, wind cannot be controlled, it is a natural phenomena. This means there should be an alternative energy source when wind power is low. Wind turbines can be seen easily because these are usually located in higher areas or in the case of wind farms may require large areas without much obstruction to get the required wind power. Noise is another downside of using a wind generator and this can effect television reception. The health of people who live close to wind farms is also involved. Wind turbine syndrome causes people to experience frequent headaches or other illnesses due to the low-frequency noise and vibration from the wind turbine.

Meanwhile, the advantage of using a wind generator is the conservation of our natural surroundings because there are no bi-products. In other words, wind turbine generators are eco-friendly. What’s more the energy produced by these generators does not incur charges unlike with electricity. By using wind turbines, you can save more money.  Of course, you need to buy a generator first but the savings more than make up for the cost of investment. Lastly, wind is renewable unlike coal or oil which will eventually run out.

As you can see, the benefits greatly outweigh the disadvantages for as long as you have considered the disadvantages and find some work around the downside of using wind generator there is no reason why you will not benefit from having a wind generator in your area.

Wind Power Generator
Posted in Micro Wind Generator, Wind Generator on 10 August 2010

Power is a necessity for all of us, not a choice. But we still have a choice as to how we should receive that power and how it will be used. There are several ways to provide power into a generator that is reliable, economical and environmentally helpful and safe.

When it comes to producing power there are factors that should be considered. In the case of a wind power generator, it is superior over other types of generator because electricity is produced through wind energy and this does not generate any bi-product, which is usually a pollutant. In addition, there is no need to purchase or maintain fuel. The only thing needed is wind energy to move the turbine.

Wind power generators are excellent for sail boats, cabins or camping in remote areas. This is because it is possible of producing tremendous energy or power. If you intend to charge some batteries or power on tools or other small appliances, then you do not need a wind power generator.

Usually farms as well as electrical facilities in rural areas make use of wind power generators due to the abundant supply of strong, wind energy. However, for urban areas, there are more factors to be considered before buying or purchasing your own power generator. Factors such as the state or government laws or rules of your housing association should be thought of as well including the noise that may be produced when you have a power generator. Regardless of the factors, there are benefits that go with having a wind power generator but this will depend from person to person.

Wind Generator Facts
Posted in Wind Generator on 4 August 2010

Wind generators have attracted the attention of many consumers this is because of the benefits that it can give them such as reduced electricity consumption resulting in cheaper electricity bill. However, before thinking of making or buying wind generator, there are factors that you have to consider.

The biggest factor that consumers need to think of is the amount of energy required. The standard battery charging does not require a lot of energy but for more energy requirements, bigger wind turbines are needed. In addition, the location regarding where the generator will be installed is also important. Next, check out if the location where you want to have the wind generator installed have sufficient amount of wind. Keep in mind that wind generators come in different shapes and sizes therefore these need varied classes. To determine the class of your area, please refer to the US Department of Energy’s Wind Map. After determining that your location has sufficient wind, you need to check out the local laws regarding installation of a wind generator.

These machines are usually placed on top of most buildings so you also have to check your city’s and housing association’s rules about wind generators. Only then can you contact the local utility company to make sure that they have no laws against using wind power. Once all these factors have been checked then proceed with buying or making your wind generator.

Making a wind generator is not an easy task and buying one can be quite expensive. If you are still interested in producing wind power without using a generator then consider the Green Markets, they have all the options about where to get clean and re-usable energy.

Wind Generator Tower
Posted in Wind Generator on 29 July 2010

If you are interested in obtaining a wind generator, determining the best generator location is important. To do this, you need to have strong wind, which is only present in high places. To be more specific, the wind generator tower should be 15 feet higher than any object within 300 feet from it.

Buying a commercially manufactured tower is also an option however, it may also be pricey. What we can do instead is create or develop our own tower which is more cost efficient.

The best way to create a wind generator tower is to look for a tilt-up pipe tower which is considered to be inexpensive. You can also use a guy wire supported tower but the best choice is using old but useful TV towers.  Old TV towers are strong and are usually 30 to 50 feet in height. The best thing about these old TV towers is you can even make money out of taking these down. This is so since most TV towers are now being replaced by satellite TV especially in rural areas.

People will pay you $50 up to $100 just so you can take out the TV tower and now you have a strong tower that you can use to create a wind generator tower. You not only help get rid of nuisance but you may also profit from removing an old TV tower.

Making a generator tower should not be complicated especially if you make use of recyclable materials and have a good, reliable guide or manual.

Wind Powered Generators
Posted in Micro Wind Generator, Vertical Wind Generator, Wind Generator on 17 July 2010

Wind Powered Generators is a rotating machine that is able to convert kinetic energy from the wind into mechanical energy and then is converted to electrical energy.  The first wind powered generator in the United States was erected in Cleveland with the assistance of Charles F. Brush (1888). By the World War I period, American windmill creators were producing around more than one hundred thousand windmills for farms each year, commonly for H2O siphoning.

Wind Powered Turbines must be installed in places with high constant wind speeds. With a wind commodity judgment, total quantity of power produced from the wind turbine can be properly assessed. A yardstick is occasionally used to establish the prime place is referred as Wind Power Density. Its calculation is derived relating to the practical potential of wind at a precise place, occasionally asserted in expressions of height above ground level over a measure of time, and accounts wind speed and wind mass.

There are several criticisms of Wind Powered Generators. Wind power is generally considered as intermittent power source. The energy production may decrease or increase over a short period of time without warning. High quality wind areas are mostly inhospitable to people, logistics and transmission of power can create problems to installations. Wind turbines affect local wild life to a smaller extent. Less than 10,000 birds are killed by wind turbines. It also pose hazards to bats, however is less likely threatening than house glass or house cats in terms of magnitude and gravity of danger. Wind power generators have much more favorable life cycle imparts than other conventional energy generation technology.
